Our Vision

I’m Melissa Johnson, a surface pattern designer, watercolor artist and creative educator Based in a small Midwest town, where rolling farm fields and quiet roads shape much of my inspiration

I create artwork rooted in nature, storytelling and timeless design, created to live beyond the product and become something people hold onto.

From wallpaper and textiles to stationery and home goods, my work is designed to live beyond the page and become part of everyday life..

About Melissa

My journey into this work didn’t begin with a clear roadmap.

In 2021, I taught myself watercolor and hand lettering while raising my three children. I opened an Etsy shop, took on custom work, and quickly experienced both the excitement of selling my art and the burnout that can come with it.

Everything shifted when I discovered surface pattern design.

The idea that a single piece of artwork could be thoughtfully reused across products and reach more people changed everything. I dove in fully, building a body of work that eventually led to licensing opportunities with brands.

What started as a creative outlet became a business I truly love.

I believe artwork can be more than something that looks beautiful.

It can tell stories, hold memories and bring a sense of home and connection into everyday spaces

And it can also provide real income for artists and their families

During one of the hardest seasons of my life, while helping care for my dad through brain cancer, creating art became something steady I could return to each day. Even in small pockets of time, it gave me something to hold onto.

That season shaped how I see this work.

Art can be meaningful and practical at the same time. It can support a life and carry meaning within it.
